TRAVELPORT PAKISTAN HOSTS JOINT WORKSHOP WITH SRILANKAN AIRLINES IN KARACHI

Travelport Pakistan and SriLankan Airlines held a joint workshop session in Karachi aimed at travel trade professionals, combining airline product training with GDS system education in a single hands-on session.

What SriLankan Airlines Covered

The SriLankan Airlines team walked attendees through the airline’s current offerings, including SriLankan Holidays packages, visa requirements, fleet details, and travel class options. Representing the airline were Ruwan Wijekoon (Country Manager Pakistan), Azfar Hassan Khan (Sales Manager, Karachi), Hameed Hussain (Sales Executive, Karachi), and Wasia Bilal (Assistant Manager, Corporate & Holidays, Karachi).

What Travelport Covered

Travelport’s session, led by Muhammad Zubair and Muhammad Fahad Ahmed Khan (both Vendor Executives), focused on the practical side of day-to-day agency work — GDS product features, smart booking tools, and queue handling functionality. Sarfraz Nawaz (Vendor Manager Pakistan) and Omer Khan (Regional Sales Manager South) were also present.

Why This Kind of Session Matters for Agencies

Joint airline-GDS workshops like this one serve a specific, practical function that general marketing events don’t: they pair updated airline product knowledge with the actual booking-tool skills needed to sell it. An agent who knows SriLankan’s latest holiday packages and visa rules but hasn’t been trained on Travelport’s current queue-handling or smart tools is still slower and more error-prone at the counter — and vice versa. For Karachi-based agencies selling SriLankan Airlines inventory, sessions like this are typically the fastest way to get frontline staff current on both fronts at once, rather than waiting on separate airline and GDS-vendor briefings.

Event Close

The session ended with a lucky draw featuring gifts sponsored by SriLankan Airlines, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony led by Wijekoon and Imran Ahmad Siddiqui, Country Manager, Travelport Pakistan & Afghanistan.
